i7 3820 (w/o Quick Sync) + Entry Level Graphics Card +
ASUS P9X79 PRO
VS.
i7 3770 (w/ Quick Sync) + Entry Level Graphics +
ASUS P8Z77-V PRO
The price difference between the two build is $90.
I do video editing, encoding, decoding and stuff and gaming XD
And I'm gonna upgrade to a higher graphics card as soon as i have saved enough money (GTX 560 Ti or higher).
any suggestion? any help will be very much appreciated.
And i don't oc, as i don't know how and I'm satisfied with stock speeds. But i won't hesitate to try. And i've seen 3770 (non-K) going up to 4.2GHz+ automatically depending on the cpu cooler. I also want more "upgrade headroom" for my build.
Thanks in advance!
you can't use quick sync with a discrete GPU present, so get, also the 3820 is only a quad, you want the next one up, which is a 6 core, GPUs only help when your CPU is really weak and you GPU is really strong, like 580, 680 strong so either invest all in the GPU or all in the CPU, I suggest CPU
also you'd have to raise the BCLK up to 105 with a multi of 39, Ivy does get higher BCLK but its still not a good idea to raise it as it could corrupt sata/PCI-e devices
Lucid mvp allows the use of quick sync even with the presence of a discrete gpu. And quad core is as far as I can go with my budget right now. Thanks for your answer
Go with the 2011 build. 2011 is just superior in every way.
I stand corrected, learn something everyday, still wouldn't rely on discrete GPU acceleration if you were to go that route
2011 easy
In the future the 6 core CPU's will be cheap 2nd hand and you can upgrade, going 3770k you will have to get a whole new Motherboard in the future if you want more performance.
Also RAM capabilties on 2011 are better. RAMDISK FTW
