$360 Gaming rig build

Hey guys, how is my rig?

I probably won't get a dedicated graphics card at the moment because the integrated card is subpar and money is going to be saved up within the next few months.

Overall, is this a good rig that I should keep?

I would wait untill the "Richland" AMD APUs come out later this month. Also, you won't be able to overclock without a slightly more expensive mobo, which would be a shame, since the APUs overclock so well.

Oh well. I'll hold off on those Richlands, even though they are coming so soon. Since I won't be able to overclock that well, does that mean that I should drop the cooling fan and stay with stock fans?

No. the stockAMD fans are shit. Why don't you want to overclock?

Oh lol. I'll just stick with the fan that I already have on the list then.

May i make a suggestion?

If your hearts completely set on the APU build, then that's good too. Just trying to give you another option.

And for the motherboard, what would you suggest? It still has to be within the price range, but I'm still looking for a efficiency/cost ratio.

The Intel build looks great, with a dedicated graphics card too. However, I think my AMD build should do fine. I'm planning to buy a graphics card later on anyways.

Could do with some changes but eh

That looks TERRIBLE. A dead socket, less ram and a slower CPU just to squeeze in a slow card?

Yeah. I'd rather have that than a pentium. Just was trying to give other options. I know it needs work I had the link laying around somewhere so I just used it. Said it could use work lol. An A10 is probably the best option here imo.

Nevermind I made a good one. Didn't really look into the motherboard. Might have to find another 7770, or get a 7750. Idk how I feel about rebates.

this is what i got. i really like it, It beats the apu graphics by a truckload. you can still upgrade because your on an AM3+ socekt and the 7770 is a nice entry leval graphics card.

the processor i overclocked to 3.8 ghz and did a small overclock on the card and im playing games a 1080p with high'sh settings.

im going to advise NOT going with the intel build because for the price you can get more perforance NOW not latter. Spenlard's build is simaler to mine feel free to tweek.

Also the Apu is NOT the way to go once you start spending 350+ dollars.

The Sandybridge pentiums are very under-rated. People overlook them because of the "pentium" name. Truth is, it performs the same as those quad core CPUs in gaming while being cheaper.

Add this to pentium build:

gives option to upgrade to an i5 later on, and supports PCI3

i hear ya. the reason i went with the athlon is the guys over at toms hardware said since games are becoming more and more multi thredded they recomended a quad athlon over the G860. i understand that the g860 is a budget rig stand by on the intel side but i think at this price point the qaud amds are giving him more bang for his buck.

Fair enough. Although, a pentium g550 can be had for roughly $45.

not overly familer with the G550 i did see it was dual core. are you suggesting it as good for now then upgrade kind of aproach?

Yes. For $45 you could have a system up and running. Later if you get a couple hundred saved up, you can upgrade to an i5.

But of course, your athlon x4 build has a great upgrade path as well.

It'll even out in the end. $45 vs $80 then $180 vs $215

huh ok I see what your saying. The 550 sounds like a great option to keep costs low, however i must admit im partial to the amd build :-).
