This is a purely theoretical question !
I found some entries online of the same problem but no explanation. We have a system running cpu 1 with no problems and then we install into this system cpu 2. The system will shut down every 30 minutes, to the second. It was tried for 10 times. It will run PRIME95 for 30 minutes or IDLE for 30 minutes, no difference. Thermals was taken out of the picture by extreme cooling of both sides of motherboard to the point where basicaly nothing was above ambient using huge industrial fans. This cannot be a coincidence ! Its like buffer overflow or arrow out of bounds error. All other components were tested separately to confirm all components are in perfect condition.
I am not asking for a solution ! I am asking for a reason for this 30 minute doom clock. **So the answer is not "try newer bios", the answer is "the kernel code overflows" or something in this manner.**
Laptop motherboard. Came with Pentium B950 (sandy bridge), was upgraded to Celeron 1005M (ivy bridge), worked for a year no problem. When swapped for i3 3110M (ivy bridge), it will shut down every 30 minutes with no error, its like someone shut the power down. All 3 processors are 35W TDP, shut down happens when in IDLE OR PRIME95. But only after exactly 30 minutes.
