2x MSI R9 270X 4G _ OR _ 1x MSI R9 290?

Hello everyone, I need a lil advise please..

which to choose : 2x MSI R9 270X 4G in crossfire OR one MSI R9 290. I am planning to replace my GTX580 3GB.

please note:

-both cost the same in here.

- I am lil worried about the power consumption in case of the 2x R9 270x.

- noise level is important to me .. heat.. I dont really care as long as the card wont burn.. lol

I really appreciate some advise.

thanks in advance.

Go the r9 290, that way no tears spilt due to crossfire issues and the heat of two cards. Just grab one with a good cooler unless you intend to stick a wc block on it.

many ppl saying that 2x R9 270X in crossfire can beat even the Geforce Titan.. and in my case i am mostly afraid of the noise level and power consumption. I found a good deal on both cards :

394 EUR for the MSI R9 290 Gaming.

and 400 EUR for both R9 270X Gaming 4G.

okay i deleted the old thread. ☺

Anyway, i would personaly go for the R9-290, the things you affraid about noice level, was an issue on the reference cards, the non reference models, like the Msi R9-290 Gaming, or the Asus R9-290 Direct CUII, are not that noicy.  also the power consumption, of 2x270X will be higher then 1x290. so you will need a decent psu to power the 270X CF. also if you play games wich have a good optimization to work with CF/sli then its offcourse great. But games that does not work that well, will be a pain in the ass.

I´m personaly not a big fan of dual gpu setups, it use more power, more heat and more noice.

Thanks, I think I will just wait for Maxwell .. So far all the ppl I have asked they were not really happy with the 290 :( and most of ppl telling me to just wait a lil bit and see how things going to be with new Maxwell GPUs. In the mean time I will just get one R9 270x 4GB to be able to play some games without the ugly noise of my nvidia 580.

Another thing btw Titanfall uses 3.6 GB of vram for insane textures ! i guess this card will do the job for the meantime.

Thanks a lot guys I finally decided to just send back the 270x and get one 290, its on the way already :) .

Again , thanks a lot !

I think that was a good choice. Crossfire and SLI are good, but they are not perfect. I always recommend a single, powerful card. Lower power requirements, among other benefits.

Yes the scaling of CF/sli is still an issue. Depening on which resolutions you wanne play.
