I want to know what is average frames for 1080p gaming. this is what i am getting on stock, with no overclock. I also have ambient occlusion and volumetric shadows off too. 60fps seems so far out of reach for me, so tips would be appreciated.
4690K
H80i GT
ASUS Z97 PRO
8GB RAM
XFX DD R9 290X
EVGA 750W PSU
not sure why you're getting such a low fps.
this is 1x 290x (without OC) on ultra extreme (at 144Hz, and 144FPS limit.)
all effects are on.
Welp, time for tinkering. :D
How's your temperatures? And have you tried re-downloading and reinstalling your GPU's drivers? Things get corrupted from time to time.
holy crap!
this is what it's been doing out of the box too. I got to reinstall everything again and check temps to see what spit's out. I'm on the 15.4 beta driver too.
gonna uninstall everything and check everything
maybe you should try a 3d firestrike test aswell.
Just to check how well your GPU scores in there.
You can check the compairissons with other 290X users.
If it scores well on firestrike, then it could be something with other part in the system.
I have an R9 290 Vapor-X and this is the scores I am getting
EDIT:
Stock settings by the way, did you have AA on?
I could not see if you had enabled it.
AA is off.
getting firestrike now, and going to see if its the gpu.
check how it matches against builds with similar gpu.
i checked some scores that other users had,
Unfortunatly i wasnt able to find a single gpu score, But a 290X crosfire with your particular cpu, sitting mostly arround the 15000 / 16000.
Since you score 9000 with a single 290X, it looks to me that the card is performing well.
What are your guys thoughts?
yeah, could not find a result for a single gpu. so the score would fall from 7500 to 8000.
just uninstall the beta driver and installed the official one. my avg fps was 34.7 and my score was 875, at ultra and extreme tessellation. lowest temp was 41C and 70C was at the peak.
edit; added proof of scores and settings
i assume you have pc filled with crap-ware. that slows you down...
tips
- remove wallpaper keep it black...
- turn off all software that you don't use (like firefox, any yt stuff etc... anything that uses flash or similar crap)
still not sure why your gpu performs so badly. (same goes to @Theonewhoisdrunk that ran it without tessellation)
Does making the wallpaper black really improve performance noticeably? Wouldn't a greyscale wallpaper have similar effect? This seems like a joke. I want benches :). But then again it is one more thing to be rendered. He should also try disabling Aero. It's a resource hog.
there's no crap-ware on this computer at all. I always close everything out before I start a game. I am trying to think of other options
How long have you had your installation? It may be time you reinstall Windows.
Feb 1st.
Huh. Not very Windows savvy (is anybody ;)) but try going to control panel and removing stuff that looks out of the norm. IE crapware. Try the newest drivers including betas as well and see what happens.
I would default ccc and the heavan benchmark and then tweak settings from there.
