2600 to 5600 upgrade

Currently trying to upgrade from my r5 2600 to an r5 5600x, when I booted on the 5600x it booted to bios and appeared to recognize the new CPU (given it displayed clocks and voltages). When I try to ‘discard and continue’ BIOS changes it just takes me back to the home BIOS screen, if I ‘Save and reboot’ It gets stuck in a loop and I can’t even return to BIOS from it. I had to cycle CPUs out to get back into BIOS (well maybe not, but I’m stupid and that worked)

Since then I slapped my 2600 back in and tried an Nvidia firmware change reddit suggested, no avail. I did update my x470 gaming plus to the newest (7B79vAL) BIOS version prior to swapping CPUs.

Thanks for your time

XMP enabled, CSM disabled, above 4g decoding enabled, disable F-tpm?
Force gen 3 on pci-e

before putting in the new cpu, hit the clear cmos jumpers to make sure the bios settings are fresh.

I would clear the BIOS settings first. I had to clear mine to upgrade my x370 to the 5800x3D.
