First off id like to say im new to the forums and am sorta lost so if this is in the wrong place, my apologies.
found an old compaq presario 1240 laptop and i installed a fresh coppy of windows98 on it with the intent of using it for old games like Microsoft midtown madness 2 and 1 and sim city 3000, and varieous other old games, but i have come across a problem. it says that it requires 256 colors to play that game, which i know it was doing before because before i re-installed windwos i was playing those games easily, but for some reason now, sim city 3000 is using a very greay looking color palat and microsoft midtown madness wont even install! i have been having trouble finding the types of graphics drivers i need, because i think that will help but idk. i searched in DOS mode and came up with this-

And googled it and came back with some options that didnt work. and when going into display settings the most i can set the color mode to is 16, so someone pleas help! i need mah old games :(
sc3k will run better on xp or 7
its just i sorta wanna get a cool windows 98 computer running
