I'd go for the 2500k. IMO anything higher powered is overkill for plain gaming. The only benefit in a 3570k is the video encoding guff and the better integrated graphics (which you better not be using for gaming :P) The 2500k overclocks better anyway and is cheaper. Go with that.
also depends on the prosessor your putting in and wether your going to overclock or not
Ive done some quick searching and the 2500 is only 10 bucks or so cheaper than the 3570. If he can find it around 50 bucks cheaper on sale then i would say go for it. But otherwise the 3570k is better.
i live in the uk and they are both similarly priced about 2or 3 puunds apart thats like 5-6 bucks but i just want go get the most out of a standard clocked cpu. asa i wont be doing any overclocking anytime soon.
Then get the 3570k. The only way the 2500k beats the 3570k is that the 2500k overclocks better.
Yeah. When i bought mine there was a 30 dollar difference.
If you don't plan on overclocking at all I would just get the 3570 or even the 3470. They should be cheaper than the K version. You could also check out the Xeon 1230v2. It is priced very close to the 3570K but it is basically a i7-3770 without integrated graphics.
thats true but does the xeon work well withing gaming?
and the thing is that the price difference between the 3570 and the 3570k is so small it doesnt matter what i get.
Even so, it does save a LITTLE money which could go towards something else. Trust me, every dollar counts when it comes to building PCs. If you don't plan on overclocking, go with a 3570 or 3470, but if you want to overclock now or in the future, go ahead and get the 3570K, and overclock it when you have a good cooler.
