I know I need windows Server 2022 or window’s workstation I will be buying that soon enough. Just want to unlock the 25 Gbe at the present time time its running at about 10 Gbs on my Windows 11 pro system or am I going to have to wait and put server 2022 on ?
Yeah Win 11 pro for workstations will do the job, just buy a key and change key there isn’t any major instal needed, think I paid £25 Then NDF enabled and RoCEv2 set.
Yes, you will need to use Windows Server 2022 or 2025. You can get an evaluation copy of either one from the Microsoft website or search for an eval copy of Windows Server 2022 or 2025. The evaluation copy is good for six months before Microsoft wants you to purchase anything.
If this is a general use machine and not actually a server, then the “For Workstation” editions are much better to use. Server OS editions often have problems installing anti-virus from some companies and also cloud backup software will sometimes throw a fit and ask you to pay for an expensive version instead. A few years ago I even had a game I was trying to play not launch and give me an error about “unsupported Windows version” when I tried to run it on my Server OS install. For Workstation versions avoids these issues.
All versions of of Windows can handel up to 10 Gygabite bandwith. Microsoft has removed the ability of geater than 10 Gygabite from all version of Windows except for Windows Server and maybe Workstation for Windows. @Gilsoyamasai to answer your question yes very Windows client will need to run either Windows Server or Workstation for Windows. Right now I am testing a evaluation copy of Windows Server 2025.
