Update: I’m not sure what happened, but it has now decided to behave and works without a hitch… The only thing I did was open the clamshell and close it when KVM was on MacBook input and now I’m no longer having issues even with the clamshell closed.
Equipment:
- Level1 1.4 Display Port KVM Switch - Dual Monitor - Two Computer
- Alienware AW3821DW (Firmware MOB103 - Eco Mode OFF)
- 2021 MacBook Pro (M1)
- Windows PC (RTX 4080)
Cables:
- Club3D USB C to Displayport Cable 1.4 1.8 Meter (MacBook Pro to KVM)
- Club3D VESA Certified CAC-2068 DisplayPort to DisplayPort 1.4 2 Meter (KVM to Monitor)
- Club3D VESA Certified CAC-2068 DisplayPort to DisplayPort 1.4 2 meter (Windows PC to KVM)
- [USB-IF Certified] Spigen USB 4 Cable for Thunderbolt 4 Cable (x2)
Issue:
When I switch from PC2 (MacBook) to PC1 (Windows) back to PC2 (MacBook) I get a blank display and my monitor goes into standby mode. However when I unplug the USB-C to DP cable and plug it back in (either way works) it then works until I switch back to Windows to my MacBook again.
Is this an issue with software on the Mac side or is this possibly an issue with my monitor and/or the Club3D cable I’m using for the MacBook to KVM.
Note: I’m only using one monitor on the KVM currently, not the two that it is capable of.
Edit:
I noticed that if I keep the clamshell up the display will work when switching, only when the clamshell is closed will it no longer properly display the screen.
