2015 EcoBoost Engines from Ford

Have you been inside a newer Dodge vehicle? It feels like something you'd buy at Walmart. They are junk.

I'm going to bump an old thread- I got really excited over the ecoboost truck- then they lighten the body too. I have no doubt OEMs can make these engines reliable- my doubt arises if they have the ethic to do so. My DD is an 01 Tacoma with the carb legal TRD blower- the 5vz is bullet proof- it'll take a lot of evidence and convincing for me to finally migrate from my Tacoma- an truck and setup that IMO is approaching a die hard following (check out the bluebook on these things, its crazy) for good reason (good size, bullet proof, easy and cheap to work on etc).

Yeah they totally are. Its unfortunate but they are basically throwaway cars now

Seems they do. @token

That's part of my excitement for the ecoboost F150, this is their meal ticket and they don't want to screw it up. They need to maintain the high sales of the F150, and convince V8 diehards, "trust us, we got this, and its better". The capitalistic pressure is there for them to not mess this up- the truck market is pretty loyal, you loose customers because you mess up, its hard to get them back. If I didn't think this, I would have probably rolled my eyes about the ecoboost motor as yet another American Car company marketing scheme that fails to deliver.

Now I'm getting spun up about self driving cars- I live in one of the most traffic impacted areas in America, and even if its just self driving on the freeway, that's a big appeal for me. I think that will be what finally gets me to upgrade from my 'old' vehicles.

I dont think that the ecoboost engines are bad at all.

at my job,
i've have the short yet satisfying pleasure to drive
the new Taurus's and F150's with the Eco-boost.
they are surprisingly quick, and don't require much throttle
to get it moving at any speed

my in-laws recently got the 2015 fusion and it was one really nice ride,
tho i can say. i don't like the new Air Bag rear seat belts.
very quick to get to speed, runs really smooth and overall nice experience.

"the owner's i've spoken to, all had a positive response to owning/driving with a ecoboost,
several people say [ having a lead foot can get you in trouble, ] as they was going 85+ in a very short amount of time"

Exactly and you know what they havent messed it up and the engine is maturing. I really do think its going to be amazing and enough to convince the v8 die hards.. I can see a v8 ecoboost replacing the v10 and v12 gas engines that they still make but that might be a while

You should plop one into a tiny car and totally have a sleeper with a 2.0 or 2.3 LOL

Well i think that ford has some decent engines.
I have never realy heard of any major issues with their patrol engines

There were like one or two.. other than that not really common in fact its rare.. ive heard of bad transmissions and rusting chassis but thats really it. I took the time to study all the car companies last night. Holy fuck after 2008 shit really sucked for PAGs

I do know that there were some issues with the first gen TDCI engines in the first gen Focus and Mondeo.
But you cannot realy blame that to Ford, because those engines are not build by Ford if i´m right.

Originally by PSA.. yes now they are all Ford Designed and built. I believe they are designed at denton... Ford weeded out all the issues. The duratorq engines are actually not to bad anymore

Yes PSA indeed.

The DAMN FRENCH!

lol

TDCI small engines though have always been difficult pieces of shit. Now they are pretty nice. I believe Ford Volvo and Mazda still work really closely even though they are not under the same PAG anymore.

What do you think of Volvo's? just curious because Ive ridden in a few they are pretty nice inside

i realy like the new Volvo S60 and V60 polstar

Ive considered it over a ford for my daily driver but unfortunatley its out of my economic range.

That and there next series is going to feature some awesome semi autonomous stuff which personally takes the fun out of driving but then again sometimes Ill desire it

They are too expensive indeed.
Still a very nice straight 6 engine with turbo.
But the Focus RS is probably faster.

ROFL yes it is. If you get the chance to drive one..DO it.. its surprisingly comfortable for a rally sport

Gosh im almost tempted to pull a bank job for the RS lol

well the ST isnt bad either with 250HP.
Sure not as fun as the RS, but probably significantly cheaper.
And you can chiptune the ST.

The RS can be chip tuned however it requires fords very expensive software.. which makes since the RS is really already pushing the limit.

The ST is nice... how expensive are the older ST's? for you over there? with the 2.0 liter ecoboost

YES FINALLY a PNG looks right in discourse @MisteryAngel
