What is the purpose of the screws on the back of the KVM above each HDMI port? Are they fastening the ports to the chassis or are they for cable retention mechanisms? I’ve got a few DP/HDMI adapter cables with larger-than-normal HDMI connectors and the screws prevent them from being fully inserted. Can I safely remove the screws without impacting the mechanical assembly of the KVM?
maybe its an older standard hdmi? Do you have a pic and model of the KVM?
It’s the L1Techs HDMI 2.1 KVM: HDMI 2.1 KVM w/EDID & Serial Control - Dual Monitor - Four Computer — Level1Techs Store
That looks like the screws for the mounting plate. Those screws have nothing to do with the connector
Not sure what you mean by “the mounting plate.” If you’re talking about the entire rear face of the box then no, that’s retained by other screws.
Anyone from L1 that can comment here? Or is there a support email address I should be sending to?
they provide strain relief to the PCB and are compatible with the HDMI locking standard. they are supposed to be there and ant cable so large that they touch is violating spec. hdmi cable large enough to violate spec physicalaly probably sucks signal wise too
Got it, thanks. This is a DP to HDMI adapter with the active electronics apparently in the HDMI connector end, making it rather large.
