1tb hdd or 256gb ssd?

I only have 6gb left on my ancient, slow(1.26MB/s random read according to defraggler) 200gb hard drive and I would like to purchase a new one in the near future

I would like to know if it would be worth it to get an ssd over 2 hdd's since both would increase speed and stop my pc from freezing and causing programs to stop reason(pretty sure my hard drive is the bottleneck)

i'm considering getting one of these ssd's:

Depends on your uses. You might consider a 120GB SSD + 1TB.

Do you game? Use your system for media? In most instances, I would lean toward the 1TB HDD. It's more than enough space for everything. it will be plenty fast enough, until it starts to get three quarters full.

I'd just get a 1 TB HDD, but I'd look at getting this Western Digital Caviar Blue as it is more reliable than the Seagate: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/western-digital-internal-hard-drive-wd10ezex

gaming and web browsing(at the same time)

Get a 1TB, then upgrade to an SSD at a later time.

I recently brought a 1TB HDD 7200rpm WD Blue drive.  The drive I had before was a WD Enterprise Drive at 10,000rpm which is similar peformance to a SSD in my opininon. And going down in RPM speed wasnt that much slower, My boot times on my new drive are quick providing there isnt loads of applications.  If you wait sheer speed then go for SSD, but having a fairly quick HDD isnt a bad shout.

alright, i think best buy has some

i found one for $8,000http://www.memory4less.com/m4l_itemdetail.aspx?itemid=1471281731&partno=WD10EZEX-20PK-KIT1&rid=90&origin=pla&gclid=Cj0KEQjwlv6dBRDC7rGfrvidmJgBEiQAjd3hMK_2Bg-2jSDY_DTbyGlzF7MmbmlXb6zl60XzMMYlNi0aAg0R8P8HAQ

It looks like a half decent deal but its refurbished, you dont know how much use it has been through, but since SSDs have a long lifespan, this might be worth getting if budget is limited.  Have you checked reviews  of the drive?

  • 1tb Black or Blue
  • ssd then wipe and re-use old existing hdd

Just installed my new wd blue with no problems

Kind of funny how best buy charges $15 more for a box labeled caviar blue with the same drive in it
