I would like to know if it's possible to recover a HDD after a mechanical failure?
It's a 1TB HDD that's making a clicking noise like "tak tak" every time I turn it on and I can't access it.
I've been using it for 6-7 years, it started suddenly.
sounds like a drive head failure.
can you see the drive in disk management?
No, you won't be able to get the disk working again. If you can still access it then stop what you're doing and use a linux live cd to make a copy of the disk (using ddrescue) and try to recover files from the copy (using testdisk or something similar). If you keep using the original disk it will only make it worse.
