I am trying to overclock my gpu for the first time. I will post pictures of the oc monitor and specs. I ran vally bench march and it “stuttered” 2 times in the first 10 minutes of the benchmark. I noticed it dropped in “total power %” when that stutter occured. Any advice on how to avoid that stutter and any other gpu oc-ing tips are greatly appreciated. I went up by 50s for memory and by 10s for core clock until unstable.
p.s. i tried to get +150 on core clock but it crashed the benchmark. also it didnt seem to like extra voltage either(went up by 10s)
Here is my pc specs:

CPU: Intel i7-4770k (Stock)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
GPU: Asus Strix 980ti DC3OC 6gb (Stock)

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD5H
Power Supply: Corsair 750W HX 80+ Gold Modular

i have yet to try a game yet after the OC bc i wanted a stabled oc before trying with games. I have been gaming with the gpu for a long time now with stock speeds. Should i try heaven?
im just trying to get extra performance without destroying gpu. better frames etc. im playing at 1440p and have a gsync monitor(165hz)…after i get a stable oc on gpu I want to try OC my cpu but i am scared.
OK, one thing upfront: If you need that system and could not handle parts failing, I would suggest not to overclock. It sounds like you really don’t want to deal with that.
Otherwise if you feel adventurous and wanna squeeze a bit more out of the old horse, a GPU overclock is kind of safe because team green makes it pretty hard to kill their cards as far as I know.
One more useful information would be what games are you running? 4770k and high end 980Ti seems like a nice combo but you might find that it is only one component that is dragging down performance.
Also what is more important to you, eyecandy or framerates?
Unfortunately I am not the right person to ask about this stuff really.
I run stock clocks … on AMD hardware … on linux. xD
Sooo , I’ll leave this to someone else now.
thank you very much for the info! I would like both eyecandy and high fps lol! i put all this money into it…i guess i wont oc cpu but it seems like oc gpu is safe so i may try that. i play pubg and h1z1 a lot. I play a lot of variety games nothing to new though. Watch dogs 2 is my newest game i believe or pubg.
