Okay, so it may have taken me a few submissions to get it right, but I just about convinced that my PC is ready to go. I am about to pull the trigger sometime within the next two weeks. Here it is: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ByWL.
I feel like I need to explain the PSU. It is 850W as I want to be completely free of limitations for the short future. With nvidia releasing their next line of cards soon, hopefully, I will need some extra power in the future.
I will use the 670 up until the next gen cards release. The monitor I will be running at is 1920x1080 in resolution, and I would like to run high settings, at a steady frame rate. I feel as though the 670 will be able to do this for the next 6 or so months. I say 6 months because I assume that will be around the time nvidia releases their next gen cards. One can never know, though.
The only thing I am unsure of is the motherboard, so please post your thoughts on that aswell.
So what do you think? Did I do well? Do you think I need to change anything? Bottlenecking? Let me know. Thanks.
I was origonally going to get a 680, but then decided that because of the next gen cards releasing relatively soon it wouldn't be a good idea. I could sell this 670 a few months from now when nvidia releases their new cards, and pick up one of those instead. That's the main idea. That way, I'm spending my money on things that would last, not on something I will be replacing shortly. And no, I don't like AMD.
This is a perfect build, however, if you are just gaming and you dont need CUDA, kthen an AMD card might be better since you'll get better performance for your money, look into the 7970.
Thanks dude, I've been working out what I'm going to put into it since November. Making sure that I'm getting exactly what I want. :) And I've been told AMD has a better bang for your buck, numerous times. I just prefer nvidia. I'll look into it, though.
I basically made the same thing but took out some items that weren't essential and managed to cram a 3770k in to the thing as well as changed your 670 to the dual fan ASUS model, I have the 660 ti FTW sig 2 from evga and a couple of my friends have the ASUS 670s and the EVGA one fan 670's as well as one friend with the 660 ti one fan from EVGA. The Asus one stays about 10 degrees cooler no matter what the insane overclock we did to them at my last LAN party.
I was looking at ASUS cards, but they're a bit expensive compared to the EVGA models. Also, I don't think I will be overclocking my GPU, so I don't think the extra cooling would benefit me a lot. It'd be nice to have, but I don't think it's worth and extra $90.
Quick edit: Also, I don't think a 3770k will outpreform my 3570k for what I am doing. Mainly gaming, not doing any video editting etc. Just gaming.
Edit #2: I would like to have that extra space on my SSD. I'd like to install some games on there, and swap them out every now and then. From what I've heard 120GB fills up pretty fast.
In that case I would do my build with your card and upgraded RAM
That board will probably do 64 gigs, The most you will ever need though is 1600 mhz 16 gig ram
Response to quick edit: 3770k Is far superior for everything, but its not worth it for builds under $1250 ish usually. For that money go for the 3770k and save on stuff i had in the build
Response to second edit: The SSD is mainly for windows to boot faster and then some room left after so you can install essentials or programs that need it (CS6, Google Chrome, etc.) but games willbarely benefit from the SSD your load time might decrease by like 2 seconds, if thats worth cheaping out on other parts or saving money to you, go for it.
Ahem... like I said. JUST gaming. I don't need 16GB of RAM for that. Based off my knowledge, 8GB will be more than enough. If I ever find myself needing more, I can alway throw in 2 more sticks, too. RAM is easy to upgrade. :)
I would recommend going socket 2011 with an i7 3820. If you have to save up another week, it will be worth it. Intel isn't going to upgrade socekt 1155 anymore, so your only upgrade for the CPU would be the i7 3770k. With socket 2011, you have all of Sandy Bridge-E and soon-to-be Ivy Bridge-E.
You can overclock the living shit out of the 3770k for how much it costs though so i think it would be worth it for him. He did get a heatsink after all
