16 GB ram sticks with a 3570k

I labeled this cpu even though I think it's more of a memory thing but it kinda goes hand in hand

I'm looking to upgrade my memory from (ddr3) 2x8 to 2x16
Can the 3570k that I have handle that?
Has anyone tried this before?
I have a motherboard with only 2 ram slots which is why I ask this I know the 3570k can handle 32GB

All desktop intel chips prior to Skylake are limited to 8GB or smaller dimms. Ivy bridge certainly will not boot or function with 16GB dimms.

curses thx

I have used 4 x 8 GB dimms with an i5 750 and that worked.
Even though 750 should only supports 16gb total.

And I have used 6x 8GB dimms with an i7 950 and that works even though it should only support 24gb

So give it ago I think

are you paying for it?

You could always return then if they dont work with your motherboard and cpu

Are there even "consumer grade" 16GB DDR3 modules?
I cannot really remember that i have seen them.
Only server and enterprise based ecc dimms.
But i have not really payed much attention to DDR3 stuff lately.
