Apologies if this isn't the right section; I found some other monitor posts in here so figured it was the best fit.
I've currently got two TN-panel monitors on my desk and I'm looking to ditch one of them soon, and replace the other later on with a duplicate of whichever monitor I end up buying. Primarily, I'm looking for an IPS monitor as my girlfriend beat me to it and damn they really are miles above TN-panels. I'm also currently favouring the 16:10 1920x1200 monitors so I've been looking at both monitors below (from the UK):
Dell U2412M
Dell U2413
Aside from the additional connectivity and a slight upgrade in colour reproduction and refresh rate, there isn't too much in it for a £100 difference, and for another £100 I can get two of the same U2412Ms.
I just wondered if anybody has experience with either of these two monitors and can recommend or discourage the purchase of either? I'd ideally like to stick with Dell (or possibly samsung if there are any other recommendations) but as 4k isn't really that interesting to me at the moment, I'd like to stick with the 16:10; mostly for programming, some gaming etc. I'm unsure whether the anti-glare coating on the 12M is worse than that of the 13 and if the extra money is really necessary.
I'm also wondering if these might be the last 16:10 monitors Dell makes for a while or if it's worth waiting for a new model? The latest P2414 and U2414 are both 16:9 (1080p) and so I feel like I might need to stick with the older models. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
Could always save up a little more an get an ultra wide, it can be split into 2 monitors and the best part, no bezel.
I have two U2312HM which are the same panel s U2412M but 16:9.
I'd say that if you don't need vertical space for productivity that specifically requires you to have both a lot of horizontal and vertical space (Photoshop, CAD etc.), 16:9 are fine.
Specifically for coding, I personally prefer having one monitor in portrait and one in landscape. When I code, I have IDE on the portrait one and documentation/whatever on the other one. Seeing a lot of code at the same time really helps.
Portrait mode is also really good for web browsing. Better than anything else, actually. It fully utilizes available screen space, as opposed to only having a narrow column in the center of the screen in most cases.
And for me, on the landscape monitor extra 120 pixels wouldn't really matter because I mostly use it to play games and watch stuff.
Also you can compare reviews on TFT Central to decide whether it's worth buying paying more for 2413 (I personally think it's not).

Can I ask how you find the coating on the panel, and the actual panel itself?
I'm looking at these two in particular for IPS + decent stand, but I was also looking at a slightly cheaper samsung that is much thinner and a similar stand.
The additional ports and colour depth tempts the extra price but it seems like a lot of money for HMDI and USB3 when colour isn't of particular importance.
Regular ordinary matte coating. Can't really imagine how can anything be wrong with one.
The panel is good, at least for the price that I paid (170 euros). Viewing angles are good, colors are way better than TN, and pixel response time is acceptable (though I had to disable overdrive because it was making things look ugly).
I personally think that 2413s are definitely not worth it, you will probably be able to find something way better for £320. And £218 for a 2412 also doesn't seem like a good deal to me (should be around 180-ish).

Form the same seller that Logan recommends for the xstar 1440p monitors.
