1500$ built?

@Spacejamflam I completely agree that having more RAM when editing would be more beneficial than an overclock. It could easily be done by dropping the CPU cooler and selecting a cheaper case such as the Focus G, which you recommended. Granted, a different memory kit would have to be selected, as they don’t have a matching set of memory below the current set.
As for the possibility of selecting a 7600k, while I understand your reasoning, I don’t think it would be beneficial. There’s only a 5-10% difference in IPC between Ryzen and Kaby Lake if I’m not mistaken. This will improve performance in single threaded applications , which most games and a few editing software’s are. However, with the difference in IPC being so minimal and most editing software being optimized for multi-threaded workloads I feel that Ryzen is a better choice at this point. Especially with rumors being that Intel will switch to higher core count CPU’s next generation. If this is the case it’s likely that more software will become optimized to utilize these extra cores and threads.
Finally, the only other thing I saw was the M.2 drive you chose, was significantly slower than the 960 Evo as mentioned previously. It’s a fine drive don’t get me wrong, but when compared to to the Evo it just doesn’t match up. For an extra $10 the potential gains when editing, as well as other tasks is worth it in my opinion. In the end though it’s really the OP’s preference and your builds will still serve him/her well. I apologize for any spelling and/or grammatical mistakes.

8cores gtx 1070 16gb what can i say?

It is not just a 5%-10% increase in IPC by going with Skylake/Kabylake, it is also the 15% clock increase that overclocking nets you on the Intel side.

Personally, I would rather go Ryzen over Kaby… 1500,1600, or 1700. $200 6 core/12 thread CPU, very nice.

$20 over… in the form of a MIR:

WHY IS RAM SO EXPENSIVE?!?!

I’m really interested in the 8600K, so we’ll see where that goes, but the cost of ddr4 would probably derail my upgrade plans right there.
Luckily the ram doesn’t need to be fast since it’s not ryzen but jeez
