$1500 Build

Hey, so ive pretty much worked out what parts i want, and this is what i came up with:

Id love any imput on the build as im hoping to make the build as good as i can. Ill be playing games like skyrim, crysis 3, minecraft, bioshock, dota 2, Black ops 2, and other games.

P.S. ( Ill be purchaseing all the parts in around one and a half weeks.)

do you plan on overclocking? if so I would recommend liquid cooling like the corsair H100i

I think the Noctua cooler will be able to handle a reasonable overclock pretty well. Also, there's not much need to go all the way to an H100i unless OP plans on really pushing that CPU. But keep in mind, that H100i is expensive and will probably push you over budget.

That being said, from what I understand, the Haswell chips do run quite warm, so maybe some other members can enlighten you a bit more on what you should look out for when overclocking.

I personally wouldn't go all out for a 4770K if I'm just going to be gaming mostly, I'd put that money into a bigger SSD (unless I had more money to just go for a 780.) or a dedicated soundcard.

Otherwise, this build looks solid. Happy building!

to get the price down you could go to a computer scrap yard and get a junk drive to use in your build it will already have windows and also you could get a disk drive thats like a good $150 off to buy a beter cooler or a boot drive

I figured that cooler would be fine seeing how ill probably only do a small - medium OC. I plan to upgrade the storage later but i figured what i had in there would be fine for now. I would love to fit a 780 in but i just couldnt find anyway to squeeze one in without a bad bottleneck. My reasoning behind the 4770k is that ill probably be doing some 3D modeling and streaming/multitasking.

P.S. Do i need a soundcard if im going to be using a headset?

I dont know of any computer scrap yards :O........

I plan on overclocking, but not majorly so i would much rather go with air then liquid cooling.

Bump!

I think ive settled on a build but i want to make sure.

My reasoning behind the 7970 GHZ instead of the 770 is that the 7970 comes with 4 games (All of which i would eventually buy.) also i hopefully plan to buy a 8970 when it releases (Depending on its specs.)

If we deduct the $160 in games from the 7970 then it sits at around $250.

P.S. Oh and i picked a 7970 ghz instead of a 7950 because i dont plan on overclocking much.

You forgot the CPU :p

No i did not, look at the custom parts..........

P.S Wow thats a nice 7970. Thanks!

It's looking good, Billy. I think you could optimise it here and there. But, for the most part, it looks good.

You can always save money on the chassis, and silly things like that.

And also, since your in Canada, put in this puppy instead of the XFX. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202001

Oh, sorry.

I don't know what you're planning to do with all those External 5.25" Bays

Personnally, I would prefer the Storm Trooper, in that price range and style from Cooler Master

Store hot pockets of course....

But yeah the case is just personal preference, and a full tower will allow for large upgrades in the future.

Thanks!

And yeah i realize i couldve got a smaller/cheaper case and all that but that case was just personal preference, and im willing to pay the extra for it.

Sigh.... so i have come to an impass again im stuck between to builds, i dont know which one will preform better XD. (P.S. i know that ram is kinda overkill but it was like $6 more.) I have a friend who is willing to lend me ram if i go with intel but i will eventually have to buy my own anyway.

Still haven't taken my advice about the Sapphire 7970? Well, your choice I guess.

For that GPU which is like 500 dollars i think shipping should be free

Sorry i forgot to specify i am getting the vapor-x i just have that in there because the vapor-x isnt on the canadian part picker.
