>$1500 build

for a gamer who is getting into/wants to learn software design, photoshop, streaming, and learn other misc. computer skills

this is what i came up with

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/TvV3

i wanted to  have max airflow (using all fan ports) my main concern is how can you power all the fans?

i already have the case mouse and keyboard.

and the 2nd gpu, 2nd set of ram, and the capture card is future addons.

thanks for your help :D

Replace that CPU cooler with a Phanteks PH-TC14PE, the RAM with a 2x8GB kit of G.SKILL Sniper Series 1866mHz CL9, and the motherboard with a Gigabyte Z77 UD3. Other than that, it looks good.

Nice setup, but could be optimized.

The motherboard is a bit pricy, ASrock is great but i would just look at a more standard version. If you really like that board it will be fine but you do have an opportunity to save a little money there. Asus motherboards have never given me issues, so you could take a look at their stuff also and probably save some money there too.

The graphics are good, but it is probably best to stay with a single gpu and get basically the same performance with a 7970GHz or a 7970 with a bit of an overclock. Around the $400 price point you have no gpu cost difference. I like sapphire for amd cards, asus, gigabyte, his, msi, and many others make good stuff if you take a look at newegg or any other online retailer.

Get an OEM copy of windows 7 home for $99, no downside compared to ultimate really.

For the power supply I would look at Corsair, seasonic, other brands that have seasonic insides can be found on google.

Ram could be made down to 2 8GB sticks for the same cost (2 x 8GB = 16GB, which is what you have now in 2 less items to go bad). 1600MHz is fine, but take a look at 1866mhz also.

Get NON-CONDUCTIVE thermal paste!!! Look at th enoctua stuff, arctic cooler MX-4 is fantastic, arctic silver even has a ceramic. AS5 is still good, but MX-4 and some other stuff is better or at least as good while not haveing the chance of messing up your board.

If you want an ssd id check out the samsung 840 series since its the same cost and what is current, also the 840 pro is faster so you might check it.

All other stuff is your preference, but I will say a great air cooler isnt a bad thing to look at vs a closed loop water unit. If you arent going to a dual 120mm fan closed loop cooler (240mm) then a noctua NH-d14 or another big air cooler is less potential issues and just as powerful and quiet.

TLDR:

Go single 7970(GHZ or reg) vs dual 7870's

Save cash and get win7 home vs ultimate

Get a psu you trust like anything coming from seasonic

2 Ram sticks vs 4 with same overall size (Future expansion possibility like the graphics going single)

Lastly, hope you didn't get irritated by the long post! Just take a look around on newegg or wherever to see good deals and options that will do the same thing for less, enjoy your new pc build!!

what zlink8 said.

The main point: If at all possible, try to avoid having multiple cards (Compatibility issues DO still exist).

1x7970 > 2x7870 (Direction of the arrow might differ with 7870 XT's in some cases.)

dont worry;DID read :D

wow thanks for the advice, im going to look at some 7970 benchmarks, and update my build. ill get back to you :D

* CPU HSF is one of the best rated for the $, see link below

http://www.frostytech.com/top5heatsinks.cfm

* I changed the CPU HSF, Mobo, RAM, SSD (the 830 hasn't been available for a few months now), HD, GPU, PSU, & OS.

* RAM has LOW PROFILE heat spreaders, so they won't get in the way of aftermarket CPU HSF's.

another thing,

idk if it matters but im alittle OCD about color scheme >.>

and what are the thoughts on how im going to power 8 case fans for maximus airflow? :D

Edit:

What about the 7950? i cant see $350+ for a gpu

7950 is a good option to conisder. The GTX 660 Ti is nVidia's competitor to the 7950, but the 7950 is better priced, IMHO. Most cases run pretty cool with 2 or 3 fans, it just depends on the case and the position and direction of the airflow. The CM Storm Scout is a good case and shouldn't need more than the stock fans, unless you want more.

remember positive airflow is the key to a clean and cool case

(more intake than exhaust)
