I plan on building a gaming pc this winter and this is what ove got so far http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1vRG6

I would much apreciate any criticism or suggestionson the build

I plan on using this build almost strictly for gaming and other basic cumputer stuff

Thanks, you guys are awsome

Since you're buying in the winter, the AMD 9XXX series will come out. But I think their high end card will be equivalent to the 780, but we will see.

I would get this HDD instead. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148840  Faster for same price.  I would bump down to 8gb of 1600mhz ram.  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231426  There is no difference gaming performance wise.  This is just my preferance but I would get a non reference 780.  The fan solution on the Asus one is much better.  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121779

If your gaming and not editing you dont need 16gb ram, 8 is more than good. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1weGX

so with this build we have a kraken x60 and 256gb ssd gtx780 and i5

for haswel you'll get the same performance out of any z87 board so I found a cheaper one that seems to have all the i/o as the msi MB.

Instead of buying a 1tb hd and 120gb ssd. I combined the cost for the two and got one 256gb ssd thinking you can just add mass storage when the time comes. its cheaper than upgreading your ssd later and less of a pain than backing up your os and reinstalling a year form now.

Altenative gpu setups

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1weTG (if you only runing one monitor)

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1weWJ (2x 760's will net you the same fps as one 780 in games that us sli.)

here is a link to see benchmarks http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/geforce_gtx_760_sli_review,1.html

youtube "NVIDIA GTX 760 2-Way SLI Performance & Gaming Benchmarks!"

also "http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1weWJ" only comes to

where you could add the savings into storage or audio or an i7.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1wwVK so how is this?

Get mine, reasons why:

CPU Cooler: It preforms the same as the H100i and is 20 dollars cheaper.

MotherBoard: The MPOWER has better overclocking potential.

RAM: you don't need 2400 MHZ RAM. Thats way overkill. I put 16 gigs for the future. Gaming only need 1600 MHZ RAM.

HDD: The Seagate Barracuda has alot of mixed reviews and I had problems with them (DOA). I would go with Western Digital Caviar Blue. Same thing for cheaper.

GPU: The Galaxy HOF 780 is a better card. It has a white PCB and has most likely the best cooler. You also can overclock the shit out of it.

P.S. My build is on my first post. And I didn't talk about the tings that you kept the same.

i checked out the galaxy card and you were definetly right so i think im gonna use that

With your budget i changed some things around, put my own twist on the build, I changed quite a bit

first of all why the caviar green? and second of all why the msi mobo over the maximus?

Thanks for the advice
