Depends on your interests and your budget. IPS is generally more affordable, and a good all-round choice.
144Hz is better for competitive, fast-paced gameplay. If you enjoy FPS games, you should probably lean to the 144Hz panel. Of course, you could always add an IPS display at a later time. Have the best of both worlds.
Why not drop the SSD down to 256, and spend the extra $100 on the 780 Ti
i mean, do you REALLY need 6GB RAM? if you are going 1080p, 2GB would be enough. 3 would be fine for 1440p. you only really need 6+ for 4k (or like triple monitor gaming with 1440p+)
You could say, do you really need dat ti? A large SSD can be very handy.
But not for gaming.
Yeah what weston said, also don't get a 3TB drive get a 2Tb one.
You could also spend some more money on a 780Ti by getting a 650W power supply, unless you are planning to do SLI.
You could also save money on regular 1600MHz ram, 2400MHz ram won't give you any benefits for gaming.
If after those alterations you had 20 bucks spare then you could get the Noctua NH-D14 or D15 cpu cooler :)

Well atm I have a 1080p IPS monitor, but I am going to be getting the same one again but the 144hz G-sync model, so maybe get the same one? It's by AOC and comes out in a couple of weeks. A little pricey, but it'll be the best 1080p 24" screen for sale (more or less).
A large SSD can be very handy for gaming. Particularly in multiplayer games where those that load in first, get to choose the best classes. Also makes modded Skyrim less of a ballache.
256 is still plent huge. He will obviously be putting most of his stuff on the 3TB drive. I mean, i think the full windows install is like 40GB? and which games in particular are you referring to? i know LoL/DoTa2 are games like that, but i believe they are under 10GB. He could put Windows(40), LoL(10), DoTa2(10), WoW(50ish for all expansions), Skyrim(20ish with a whole bunch of HD mods), and still have half the SSD left. but chances are, he will just want to mainly use the HDD.
256 is the sweet spot, in my opinion. Games like Battlefield 4 are quite large (40GB+), and have very long loading times. The latest Total War game.
but in addition, it is not a good idea to fill the storage drive, as there will be some performance degradation. So you want that little bit of extra headroom on a 256.
yeah, he can get a good 16GB kit for like $150. but in his defense, Vengeance Pro is expensive. I have seen the 1866 go for MORE than the 2400 kits XD. so if he is set on Vengeance Pro, that is not bad (i saw some Red Vengeace pro 1866, which i want for my October build, on sale for $150 :/ )
well yeah, but that is what i am saying. he put a 500GB SSD in his build. i was suggesting that he get the 256 instead, and use the extra $100 to bump up (from a $600 ^GB 780) to a 780Ti.
It's not that I was disagreeing. Depending on someone's habits, they might prefer the 500GB. Most games will go on a HDD. I was really just reinforcing the point, but also listing games to answer your query. There are some rather large games. Much larger than Skyrim. I think Titanfall was 35GB or more. I haven't played that game, so I couldn't determine if it would require an SSD.

elder scrolls online is 30. pretty big
BF4 with all of the DLC so far is like 47GB I think. I'm too lazy to check my install though.

But back on topic.... I bought a Asus IPS panel and its soooooo beautiful compared to my friends 120hz Asus.... I'd say IPS any day.
PS: 1 ssd is PLENTY fast for your boot drive... Why not just get 1 ssd and some WD blacks? And if your going to stick with ssd's make them the same, its just better especially if you are doing a RAID config.
