1440p on 4K 40" Monitors

This is my first post here. So let me start off by saying how much I enjoy tek syndicate on youtube. Logan represents all things cool and Wendell for keeping it all real and in perspective.

Thanks in advance for any insight to this question!

My Question: How do these monitors perform at 1440p(2560x1440)? Theoretically they should do 3K(2880x1620 @ 70-80Hz), 2560x1440 @ 90-100Hz, and 1080 @ 120Hz

Why I ask:
I have a 4K TV/Monitor Seiki 39" se39uy04 that is HDMI 1.4 and only 4K@30Hz. It has it's issues; but, can do 1440p@70Hz. You see, I have Presbyopia (farsightedness caused by loss of elasticity of the lens of the eye, occurring typically in middle and old age). LOL yes I'm OLD(46).

This condition forced me to move my monitor further away. It was simply to blurry with my glasses on up close. So I got the 40" and sit back about 4' -5' from the monitor. I love the set up but 4K is to small I can't read anything. I adjusted the resolution to 1440p(2K) and it's perfect. The problem now is input lag. It's very noticeable in BF4. Even playing Wildstar PvP I swear I can detect some lag.

Most of that issue is going to come from it being a TV and not a monitor, look for a "game" mode in the settings

Also you could just run it 4k and scale things, might still run into issues though on anything but windows 10

I had 2 x 1080p tv's @ 40" for my setup at one time, was ok but you could see the pixels which didn't really bother me.

Now I use 2 x 32" @ 1440p screens and 1 x 4k 40" @ 1440p

1440p on the 4K 40" monitor (not tv) is perfect, I would recommend you grab a 4K monitor and drop the resolution to 1440p, you wont have scaling issues or any issue reading then.

Thanks for the replies. I am running Windows 10 and a NVidia 780. If freesync works well at 1440p@100Hz, then I might be looking at an AMD GPU.

What I'm trying to find out:
Will the Korean 40" monitors run 1440p@100Hz over DP1.2? If Yes, does it improve the Freesync?
