I just got a sony vaio flip 15a. It a convertible ultrabook that has dedicated graphics and a digitizer. As all laptops now a days have sdcard slots, should I boot w8.1 off a 128gb one because I wanna keep the hdd thats in it (1tb) for word docs. How well would it run things? Games?
Hey Ancient Evil God
That is a tricky question depending on the particular card.
Yes you can do it but you might not want to. Class 10 basically means it can sustain a minimum transfer rate of 10 Megabyte's per second but depending on what the max speed rate of the card is it might be okay. You might also want to look at the number of read / writes the card can do to make sure that its not going to last a couple of months then die because if that happens you might lose all you data if there is not back up.
Also you need to make sure you select the SD card in your bios to be the boot device. Also depending on the BUS throughput of the card reader it might also be a bottle neck.
