Ideally, I'd like to try both of these monitors side-by-side and pick the best one, however, no retailers near me are willing to get the monitors out of the box if I'm not going to buy both of them. So I resort to the lovely people of the internets to assist me (hopefully you).
Which 120Hz monitor would you buy? I've currently narrowed my search down to betweem the BenQ XL2420T and the Asus VG248QE. Having posted on different forums, a lot of the responses have been pretty balanced - and those who have posted claiming one is significantly better than the other are yet to try it.
A lot of my friends on Battlelog (I'm an FPS player) have recommended going with the BenQ monitor as a lot of them have it and love it, but I fear that they bought it because it's endorsed heavily by CS professionals. All of them are also yet to try any other 120Hz monitor too.
I'm reluctant to pick one of these monitors on a whim. There will be the constant niggling feeling in the back of my mind thinking 'I would've nailed that guy on the Asus'.
1st world problems, I know - but I'd really love some assistance.
Samsung S23A700D got it for $220 and it came with 3D glasses.
In my personal opinion
Contrast ratio>Refresh rate

The price doesn't bother me that much. I know I'll enjoy it if I buy it, and I know I'll get the use out of it. With regards to 3D, I'm not bothered. Wasn't going to buy any with the monitor immediately anyway.

To me, I'd appreciate more fluid movements on the screen than a higher quality of colour. Sure, the colours matter to me - but as long as they're of a decent standard, I'd be happy.
Well, I like Asus products a lot. Both monitors are excellent though.
The reviews do appear to say so.
I think I'll be very happy with either monitor, to be honest, but I'd love to know which one is the better of the two! *sigh*
Go for the XL2411t which actually is newer than the XL2420t but doesn't have that switch thing or the red and black color scheme. But it does support 144hz and has a lower response time, and its cheaper.
I also have this monitor, really nice picture and quality for the price!

I suggest you read their review as they are the definition of in-depth.
TL;DR: I personally have a XL2420T which is great (I totally agree with prad's article), but the back light PWN frequency is too low. This head ache inducing flaw makes me sometimes regret buying this monitor. So I will actually recommend not buying the XL2420T
@CactusCow I'm unsure as to whether or not 144Hz will be beneficial to me. Running the game to get a constant fps of 120fps in BF4 will be a push, let alone trying to get those extra 24 frames!
I understand your point that with regards to the XL2411T, however, why is the XL2420T advertised as the 'top of the range' model if this is truly the case?
@Peter I'm yet to read the reviews - will get to that now! Thank you.
However, in response to your head ache issue, are you sure this is not a problem isolated to you? I have many friends with that monitor that I've played 12+ hour gaming sessions with that haven't mentioned such a problem.
Your welcome.
The flickering is most noticable when browsing. I can see it moving from left to right on the monitor. The closest I will ever get to a spidey sense is my sensitivity to flickering light, buzzing electronics etc. So if your are not as hypersensitive as I then the XL2420T is just a great monitor full stop.
Interesting. Have you tried any other 120Hz monitors, and if so, do you suffer the same problem with those too? I'm intrigued, yet to hear of such a problem on any of the other forums I've researched this monitor upon.
EDIT: After doing some more reading into monitors. I've discovered that BenQ have released a new version of the XL2420T (the TE) that has addressed any problems witht the PWM. I do aplogise for doubting you!
Here's an article if anybody else is interested: http://pcmonitors.info/benq/benq-xl2420te-144hz-flicker-free
It's good to be a little sceptical.
Damn, now I have to buy a new monitor
60hz lcd issues are most noticable on 2d side scrolling games vs 120hz(trails).. contrast ratio is important to make the different shades of black stand out vs them all bleeding together. low latency is nice(input lag sucks). 120hz+high contrast ratio and low latency is the way to go.
I second that, anything past 60hz in reality is stupid. Just wasting money for something that you literaly can't tell the difference. Contrast ratio is MUCH more important.
Alas, if only such a thing existed for £300. [Please, correct me if I'm wrong!]
