Looking for some good overclocks on the cpu/gpu. Going to be running a custom water cooling rig once I figure it out.

I found an R9 280x on sale for $440 while looking through newegg. I don't really know how good it is in terms of cooling, especially since I don't think it has an aftermarket cooler.

That said, I honestly think 4 GB of VRAM is too much for a 770 unless you plan on going SLI later on. Especially since you easily save $50+ by going with a 2 GB version. There's really no AMD card that competes in the same price range though, especially when going for 2 GB.

Thank you for your input, but why would I choose to subtract 2gigs of memory for 30 dollars? Doesn't seem very logical. Money isn't an object for this build, i just capped myself at 1200 so my wife isn't pissed and comes to me yelling that we should have spent that money on our newborn daughter.

Additionally I do plan on SLI after a few years and the one card isn't giving me the performance I need

Also thank you for the suggestion, but does the 770 no beat out the R9 280X?

Thanks.

Since you mention that money isnt actually an issue, i might suggest downgrading your mother board just a bit to maybe a $120-$150 model and jumping up to a 780 priced at $500ish. The benefit of a better card will out way the benefit that the ROG board will give you imo.

I actually did that last night. Downgraded to a full size Asrock board. I noticed that the chassis I chose supported full size boards.

Thanks for the suggestion. Ill look into that.
