So, I got about $1200 to spend on a new computer dedicated to gaming (Would like to keep it around $1000-$1100 so I have a little to spend on Steam). I'm using pcpartpicker to get all the ideal stuff together, so here's a link of what I've got picked out.
I first picked the HX750 psu, but people have given the 750EVGA psu great ratings, and it's about $40 cheaper. But I also have a feeling I might need a little bit more power, like a 800/850watt psu, so I'd like someone's opinion and knowledge on this.
Also, I'm not entirely great with motherboards, so I'd also like to know if the ASRock board is good. Not sure at the moment, but I might want to overclock later (nothing too much), so I have a slight feeling I might need a better cooler or a better board.
And last of all, could someone explain to me the difference from the ROG Asus GTX 780 DirectCU II compared to the Asus GTX 780 DirectCU II gpu? I noticed the ROG is $100 more, so I'd like to know if it's worth it or not.
Anways, thanks in advanced for putting up with my needs :)
You don't need a 750W psu. That system will pull max around 450W. Get a nice 550W or 600W unit to give you some upgrade room.
Ditch the optical drive. You really don't need one.
OS?
Also look at AMD. An 8320 coupled with an Asus M5A99FX Pro board would be very good as well and a little bit cheaper.
If you have no interest in OCing either you could spend a little bit more and grab a Xeon 1230V3 which will give you the power of an i7-4770 but at a much cheaper price.
If you do plan on OCing than I'd grab a better CPU cooler. The Noctua NH-U14S is excellent in that regard.
My suggestion would be go with the 8320 from AMD and use the money you save to get an SSD. The Samsung 840 Evo is good and can be found for around $90 in the 120GB flavor.
The ROG has some special OCing features designed for hard core users who really intend to push their hardware. Personally, I'd just go with the DCUII model you have in the build. An R9 290 is also very good and a bit cheaper.
