11th April hurry up please

Some spare time and ryzen have tempted me to build a new gaming pc. Decided on a 1600x but I'm severely tempted to give in and get a 1700x.

Parts list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/zmcyRG
I've actually got the 3200mhz ram

Side note: I will probably throw up installing windows.

To make it even more difficult, what about the 1700?

So tempting, I don't like playing the silicon lottery too much though.

There is barely lottery involved. I haven't seen a single chip not hitting 3.8GHz minimum on all cores.
So ....

I sense peer pressuring for the 1700 is inbound.

There's not many applications except video editing that will take advantage of the extra cores, am I correct?

Every time somebody buys a re-branded corsair power supply saying a baby cries on the planet...
Anyways, are you sure you won't be happier getting the 1600 non X and overclocking the living crap out of it? Or if you are really set on an 8 core - 1700 non X?
I mean so far the XFR function have been questionable at best...

Not really...
I can start like 50 single threaded things right now, and i would need 50 threads... So no, it's not just video editing... Having an extra core means your system in general will not hick up whenever you are doing something and actually need to do other stuff side by side with that something...
8 cores are way better for simultaneous playing, streaming and recording, than only 4 cores. Each software have it's own cores to play around with, so yeah...

I can't wait till Aprill 11th,
Until then I shall suffer.

So that's why they're always crying, I had no idea they just re-branded!

I can't see me getting the value from the 8 cores. This build started with the intention of being a 1080p gaming machine with a rx480, but I'm typing this looking at a 4k screen so things have escalated....

I know the feeling, I have a new case, all the watercooling components & other bits and pieces ready to go. I'm hoping we will see some better motherboards with the R5 release.

My usual supplier has the Taichi & the Gigabyte K7 in stock now though, which were my top choices so far.

Must resist!

I need money more than 4k gaming. I won't game at 4k for at least another 2 years if I can help it.

Which one are you waiting for? Are you going with hardline tubing?

I'm sure the wait will be worth it! If a micro-atx x370 appears soon after my build I'll die a little inside.

I couldn't resist the monitor! Hoping the 1080 can do it justice.

Edit: This view isn't helping.

I usually prefer April 11th to stay the hell away from me....because its the day I have to add 1 to my age and get an annoying amount of calls from family members :(

I gave up trying to resist and ordered the 1700 last night. As soon as by bank account recovers from shock I'm going to water cool the sucker.

So, I feel ya, I just didn't have enough patience.

No, hardline doesn't really appeal to me to be honest, I'm using the EK Black ZMT tube.

I'm hoping for an ASRock extreme series, or SOC/Force from Gigabyte. Though from the small amount of info I've found, neither is likely.

The Taichi is almost there, but the single bios just bugs me. I'd happily pay more for that.

I'd say the mATX x370 are not far away. It would make sense for them to release with the more budget friendly CPUs.

That is a temping pile of parts you have there.
