Side Note - Does CUDA work with Sony Vegas 11?

Thanks!

You don't even need that to max BF3. A 660 and 6300 could max bf3. And yes CUDA works with Vegas. I'd switch the GPU to a 660ti or something and get a nicer case/psu.

It seems CUDA does work for Sony Vegas 11 however, it seems like Sony Vegas 11 has problems detecting the GTX 600 series. The last post from what I can find is four months old on this subject so maybe it's been patched, maybe those people just didn't know how to work CUDA with their 670, or maybe it was just some individual faults. All in all, it seems a bit too risky to chance it as the Website is in its Sony Vegas 12 stage.

The videos that I could find, in my time, of Sony Vegas 11 working with CUDA were with a GTX 560. Maybe there is one with a 670 or a 600 series but I gave up looking. There has been no resolutions so far that I've found on the topic Either.

Some Sources:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlNKqEM_8jE - and various other videos that have crazy music to them. This is demonstrated with a 560. Not a 670. I could find nothing about a 600 series with Sony Vegas 11.

This may have been resolved but I don't know yet. Maybe someone else would.

You might want some RAM to take the pressure off of your SSD. Just a suggestion.

Yeah I forgot the RAM, thinking about the  G.Skill F3-14900CL9D-8GBXL 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 for 62.00. I also want a faster GPU for recording woth DXtory, hence the 670 but was thinking about the 660 ti or the 7870.

The up to date topics seem to say that 7870 beats 660ti with the recent gpu driver updates by AMD. This may depend on what tastes you like and finding out what GPU is better utilized by the programs you're running. There are also alot of forums saying that a 7870 overclocks better than the 660ti. I don't know if the first subject I touched on is referring to an overclocked comparison or not.

There is also something that I would like to point out. The 660ti is relatively close to the pricerange of a Radeon 7950 which is regarded to have way better performance than a 660ti in many situations and often is compared to a 670 series alongside its bigger brother the 7970 (though it loses often but is still comparable). The 7950 is also easy to overclock too and now represents a very great deal for its price.

However, all sources in computing have never really been set in stone due to competition between companies so usually anything within a pricerange of another product can compete with its competitor... which sounds redundant...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIS6zyBkoKY - at 2:10 Logan uses a 670 in the CPU but recommends the 7950 as an AMD option.

The AMD option is very appealing, however for what i want to do CUDA is near impossible to pass up. However for faster FPS using DXtory i might go for the FX-8350, but I do like the lower power consumption under overclocking that the Intel has.

Yeah, sometimes I wish that everything was compatible with everything else. The power consumption won't be too much of a big deal. Another of Logan's video calculates a computer's power consumption during intense play for stock rate and overclocking rate. The video is of the FX-8350 vs I5 3570k

 Source:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4et7kDGSRfc - At the 9 minute mark, the topic shifts over to power consumption. This is the CPU so I don't think it'll have an effect on the CUDA.

I don't have the money to do all these tests myself so I try my best to source you reliable sources. RazetheW0rld and Linustechtips are sources that I often use.

Saw that, power costs a fortune in Australia after the bs government brought in the carbon tax, makin a $300 energy bill $450. So I want the extra cores but the intel is just cheaper to run overclocked.

Oh yeah, that would mean alot then. The I5 seems like the best deal then as of now. There aren't many tips I have left to give you now. Maybe someone elses opinion may help you.

Thanks, this threads helped me out heaps for my first build. Hoping it will be good!

Glad to be of help to you. I got alot of learning experience from this thread also.
