Hey guys, I have another build for my cousin. He's a console gamer and recently decided to go for PC gaming because he saw borderlands 2 and that fancy PhysX stuff lol. This build might also help him during college because he is into graphic design stuff.
Max budget is $1100-ish (without OS), I tried to help him make the parts list and this is what I came up with : http://pcpartpicker.com/p/v7PS
Is it a good one? If there is any recommendation or anything please feel free to comment.
I personally do not know squat about the requirements about graphics design, but for gaming that system will do some nice damage. The GTX670 is a proper card, there is also the HD7970 as well for that price range which is a monster as well. We need someone who knows which platform performs better in graphics desgin to give their two cents on the graphics card.
Thank you John c. I don't really know much about graphic design stuff either. All I think about graphic design is Photoshop and maybe some 3D rendering, so I was thinking of putting 16 GB RAM in the system.
16GB does not hurt, any chance you can ask your cousin what programs he uses for graphics design and we can look up what the requirements for them are.
I just texted him and he's not really sure either because he's only a first-year student and he hasn't really used the computer, all his assignments so far were to draw something with hand, but he told me that he might be using Corel Draw, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, and maybe 3dsMax later.
Nvidia has CUDA, which is good for most adobe products (if not all), I would think that with the phisx and CUDA there really are no reasons to go AMD/ATI. If he likes graphical design I could send him to a nice romanian guy, whom hates gypsies, at: https://www.youtube.com/user/zoocdoesstuff/
I looked up the specs for those programs and honestly it seems your GTX670 will do just fine, i mean some of the requirements for those programs are really really basic. With a system like this, i honestly doubt your cousin will do a whole lot of design once he gets a game going in it lol. Maybe you can borrow his system on weekends and do some benchmarks ;)
