$1100-1200 gaming pc

Hello there! I am finally making the switch from consoles and would like some help with coming up with a build. Please note that I will be needing everything needed to start gaming: a monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc.  Your help is much appreciated!

Posting where you live would help a lot, unless you want me to find prices based on an Australian store or something!

America :)

Grand Total: $1,380.33

It's a bit over your budget but it's one hell of a setup considering that you need everything.  Definately worth saving the extra too get.  It'll will last you a long long time.

I can still get the price down for you by swapping out a few items. Though that will definately compromise the performance from what it is.

Have a look and let me know what you think.  No doubt the others around here will also make recommendations and swap things out to get the price down.

I suppose you'll be interested in getting a gaming headset and some speakers as well.

I use logitech X-530 5.1 speaker system and a Creative Fatality Headset.  Since I use a dedicated sound card and not onboard audio I won't make any recommendations here, others will have a better idea.

Ok I've swapped out some parts to get the price down to $1,196.33.

Asus DVD writer (no longer in combo) $19.99

Intel Core i3-3225 Ivy Bridge 3.3GHz LGA 1155 55W Dual-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4000 $144.99

The i3 is a pretty big step down in performance from the i5 but it at least matches the AMD Phenom II 965 Black Edition and you can always upgrage later to an i5 or i7.

So at this new price point you end up with an ugly case, a weaker power supply and weaker gpu. But it kicks a consoles arse and suits your budget if your that strict to keep it at a max of $1200.

This is the headset I use, it's cheap and does have fair sound quality.

Creative Fatality Gaming Headset $39.99

The price can be knocked back even further by going with AMD cpu on a micro atx motherboard, a micro atx case, even dropping the gpu back to an amd 7770 and the power supply to something like a 500w.

But you need to also state what performance you want.

Wow thank you so much! This is a big help and I appreciate it! I still have some saving up to do but I hope to start ordering stuff soon.  Thanks again!
