£1000 development/gaming/everything build

Hey lovely people,
I need to replace my day-to-day Windows 10 desktop and would appreciate some pointers. I use my machine primarily for development (Visual Studio, SQL Server etc etc), but also a fair bit of gaming, so some mid to high range graphics punch would be good too.
My budget is about £1000 (I'm based in the UK) and I'm good for peripherals, monitor and storage drives (although a system SSD recommendation would be cool).
I'm a software guy so my hardware knowledge is pretty limited... I'm open to all suggestions. My only real thoughts so far have been to grab a Fractal R4 for the case (love the minimalist design)
Thanks!

You choose your side.

Build around an FX8350 CPU.

Reasons:
1.) cheap cpu now
2:) High clock speed, great for gaming.
3:) 8 cores, great for multi-threaded applications(development stuff)

use the extra money for more ram if you need it for development( since you didn't mention what kind of dev work you'll be doing)

or use it for a better GPU

development desires cores not graphics so Id say sacrifice the graphics and get an E3 Xeon and make a workstation. Then throw in a mid range graphics card.

Id say this build would be a lot more worth it say if you raise it a pence or two to 1350 pounds (pun intended)

Your doing dev work and what people here are failing to notice is if you mean programming youd be better off sacrificing the GPU power for more cpu power and get a good GPU later.

for these kind of workloads, i would say go with a 5820K setup if you could afford.
6 core 12 threads will be ideal for your productivity workloads, and it will also be a good chip for gaming aswell.

According to the op, i assume that you allready have storage drives and peripherals.

In terms of the gpu´s you could choose between a R9-390 or GTX970,
Those gpu´s costs arround the same.

No upgrade path without changing your motherboard, the higher clock speed doesnt immediately mean its "better for gaming", and the 1231v3, for $60 more (or £60 over here) is hyperthreaded so you'll have eight threads there anyway.
