Hello there =3,
My cousin is working on a laptop at the moment, but thats not working out for her very well. So she asked me to build her a rig for around €1000,-. She will be mainly using after effects and as usual other adobe softwares. (probably) No overclocking and probably going to use two screens. She's a geek so she does want to play some emulated games, but that isnt a major deal. We're situated in The Netherlands, but it doesnt matter too much. This is a guideline for me to get an idea for what I should aim.
I would like to hear your opinion about this build [Whether its overpowered/ where can I shave of my budget(its around $1200 atm -> $1000)]. I prefer intel and nvidia, since these are adobe supported components(?). Thanks for taking your time ^_^.

ps. its saying something about exceeding recommend operating voltage of RAM, is this a huge problem?
Personally the only thing that I see that would make a difference for comfortability and performance is a no-maintenence watercooler, such as the H60 or H80 from Corsair.
Thanks for your reply usmc, how often does the fan need to be cleaned normally? I'll keep the H60 in mind , but this actually adds up money and I'm already over the budget.
I'm thinking of maybe swithing to an GTX6** or maybe a i5 or older i7. I would like to keep the i7 since it can use the eight thread efficiently with the 16gb ram when rendering, but then again I don't have much experience on this field.
well i would go with hasswell, since the prices are arround the same, i would stay with an i7, but the non K because she won´t overclock. further i would put in 2x8 gb of ram instead of 4x4, thats pointless, because you get more efficancy wenn putting 2x8 gb because the cpu has a dual channel memory controller, that means it can speak to 2 modules at the same time..
i will come up with a build in a minute, which country do you live?
Grtz Angel ☺
Thanks misteryangel! I thought I chose 2x8gb but I guess I was wrong, that indeed does have my preference.
I live in the Netherlands(holland). (but the prices are actually quite the same over here as in the us, only in €).
thats nice because i live in the Netherlands my self haha so i can make something based on our own prices ☺ lol im blind because you allready wrote it in you start post sorry.
cool ^_^, Then I'll post this for you what I actually was planning to buy. http://tweakers.net/gallery/350822/#tab:wenslijst [Build1]
I'll have a look at the hasswell, but all those mobo(!) it gives me an headache xD.
ps. my cousin just told me that the budget isnt too strict and she likes the build already! =D. So just some last improvements on the choice I guess ^_^
i made this in the base of american prices, i will look to Dutch prices in a minute ☺
i trow in a 4GB GTX760 evga.

I would stick to an RAM with higher frequency DDR3-2*** since this does have a (big)? impact. And keeping the CAS latency low, thats why I chose the [Kingston KHX24C11T3K2/16X].
But this is gonna look interesting =]
yeah i know that about the cas and and the speeds of the ram, but partpicker gave me an compatibility issue, that hasswell also ivy bridge support upto 1.5V ram, but that would look a bit strange to me ☺
yeah had that same notification, was wondering the same if it would matter that much to actually choose a lesser memory. At least it will be using the max voltage when using the 2*** and not being bottlednecked by lower frequency (that is what I was thinking).
well if i look at the mobo specs it should support those higher clocked ram.
let see if it works: http://tweakers.net/gallery/526243/#tab:wenslijst
You can allways cheapout and trow in a Evga GTX760 2GB super clocked, its about €30,- cheaper. but would also be fine. if she only uses 1 monitor.
You really like the white case huh =p?
Is the higher power supply necessary? I would happily trade that in with 2TB extra for her, since she is working on some big projects. I'll check out some other Mobo when I'm home tonight, but yours like mighty fine already ^_^
yeah as a Girl i realy do like the white case yes. its just something diffrent then basic black ☺ if it was in glossy red or funky light grean i would like it even more lol.
About the psu, your XFX psu would be fine. 550W 80+bronze, i just picked the Lepa 650W 80+gold because it would give more room to add things later, but you will absolutley fine. about the mobo, i choosed for the msi, because the price is reasonable, also Asus has some nice priced boards, like Asus Z87 Plus take also a look at that one!
you can cheap out on the psu if you stay with your XFX thats absolutly fine, you can also as i said above go for a 2GB GTX760 if she prefers that and trow in a Bigger HDD.
About ram i think you would also be fine with 1866mhz ramms for editing, i dont expect that the performance diffrences between 1866mhz and 2400mhz will be realy noticable...
Atm, It looks like I'm going to switch the processor with 4770 haswell, change the Mobo and switch over to EVGA GTX760 4gb. If they release one with ACX Cooling on time, I'll choose that one. Also leaving the psu at 550W since she wont be upgrading for a while. This looks good.
Can you find any decent watercoolers mistery, I find it hard to find some decent quality ones on tweakers =/.
Build looks great ^_^, I'm jealous of my cousin haha.
PS. anywho, anyone else looking at this, don't feel shy, its been mainly mistery (Thanks for that btw!) atm ^_^. More perspective is always better =]
i was thinking about the corsair H80i but it cost arround 80 euro. thats something what´s a bit bottering me, because she won´t overclock.
Doesn't the rendering use a lot of CPU (and heat it up)? That's why I want to buy her a cooler to be sure.
yeah thats also why its bottering me a bit. getting a Decent LC cooler is realy a good option, Corsair H80i or H100i are good also NZXT Kraken is great, but ofc i cannot look into her portomonee :P
Im goingto eat and horseriding for now, will be back later. I hope more people gonne trow theire visions into this thread. ☺
Whats the difference between the H80 and H80i? Corsair only show their H80i on their website.
[answer: H80i is newer and better version]
