So I turn on my computer this morning and it booted up just fine, but after boot was extremely slow(it took minutes to open any program). so I look at the taskmanager and my CPU usage is stuck at 100% even when im not using any programs. I disabled file indexiing, turned off aero theme, and uninstalled commodo thinking it might just b an awful resource hog...nothing, so I start ending all unnecessary tasks, and my memory usage goes down to nothing but CPU is still at %100. someone plz help reinstalling windows would really be a pain in the ass, especially considering I dont have the disc anymore.
also already scanned wit avg, commodo, and malwarebytes, none of them found anything, also checked my memory and appears to be working just fine. Also it does actually appear to be under full load as CPU is running at nearly 70c
In task manager open up the processes tab, and then in the bottom right click show all processes. When this is done then go to the top and sort by cpu usage it should show you the culprit.
This is how I figured out a while back that my AVG actually got corrupted and was constantly running my cpu up to %100 so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it problem fixed.
No it was not scanning something happen to the program.
on the processes tab there should be a column called CPU that is the percent of CPU usage that a process uses, use that to hunt down the process
I've had that problem with AVG before
Damn AVG be fucking with my shit. Not on my desktop I own this rig.
its not even any one thing, everything is just eating my CPU up. windows explorer is using 20% not copying anything? Steam is using about 50%, chrome is using about 2% per process? Is something wrong with my CPU?
What cpu do you have?
System restore fixed it, just made restore point last week anyways, cant imagine what could have caused that though
system or programs updates will cause that.

nice double post
AMD Cool 'n' Quiet actually made my old CPU stay at extremely low frequencies and lock up. It was after updating all my drivers. System restore fixed it.
