I can definitely agree with this. I think this has been the case since probably at least the early 2010’s, for anything but “hardcore” gaming, and since the late 2010’s, even that is mostly a better experience on the linux side now. There’s probably better compatibility for older games on modern linux than there is on any windows since xp.

Basically they are exactly the same in this sense. The GNU utils are still the backbone of pretty much any linux system. That is also why every guide you will find online will tell you to use them, and why people get so upset and scared of linux. Because there is no random exe file they can download and click, and they have to instead rely on a simple program that is installed on pretty much every system imaginable, to actually manipulate their system themselves (read: edit a text file), instead of trusting that random piece of proprietary software is going to do what it says it will. The horror! :scream:
