Hi so i have got my new build all together but the first WD black drive they sent me was defective giving me smart warnings on first restart rma that one they sent me another one did the exact same thing can anybody suggest a different brand of 1 tb hard drive? i was thinking seagate? has anybody else had this problem ?
I've never had a failing Seagate before.
It's all about luck. I had a 40gb, a 60gb and a 160gb caviar and one 1tb WD green fail.
I still have 2 working 20gb quantum fireballs, maxtor and all my current hdds are seagate. It's safe to say WD failed on you enough.
thanks i really think i am gonna get a seagate cause even if i got a WD that did work i don't have much faith in it's durability now
I've personally never bought a WD drive before but some of my friends have, and the life of the drives is pretty bad imho. I use Seagate for all my storage needs. Don't know why but WD's fail too often and for unexpected reasons. It is sad that you had a recurring problem with all the drives you got. Tough luck.
I have a WD Caviar Blue and two Seagate Barracuda's in my rig. The WD has been running great since February, and likewise, my Seagates have been running since August without any hiccups. I think it's usually hit or miss with HDDs.
